Community Advocate

Originally from Central Florida, Kristen King is an advocate for people, a caring wife and a loving, fun mom.  After graduating from Wake Forest University with a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting, Kristen moved to Madrid, Spain to teach English.  Upon returning from Spain, she worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Washington DC as a public accountant.  After a few years in public accounting, she moved back to Florida to marry her high school sweetheart, Chris King, and worked as a development officer at the Orlando Health Foundation for 7 years.   From 2014-2020, Kristen was a panelist on TV 45’s Current and Welcome Home, 2 Central Florida talk shows highlighting current events and today’s topics.  Throughout 2017 and 2018, Kristen traveled the state of Florida giving talks and meeting with people as her husband Chris ran for the Democratic nomination for Florida Governor, then as the 2018 Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor.  This experience was one of the most meaningful of Kristen’s life as she more fully understood the vast complexities faced by so many Floridians.  Kristen cares passionately about the marginalized and those who have been overlooked by traditional society.  Kristen is also on the board of the United Against Poverty Orlando, an organization committed to inspiring and empowering people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency.  Kristen and Chris have three children and live in Winter Park.
